Deck Referees Needed

Forest Grove Swim Club needs deck referees for their morning and afternoon sessions Saturday Dec 5 and Sunday Dec 6. For the morning session, the officials meetings are at 7:45 and the meet will be over by 12:45; Saturday PM officials meeting is at 1:15 and the meet ends by 7:45; Sunday PM officials meetings is at 12:30 and the meet ends by 7:00. Athletes, coaches and volunteers awarded

The 2009 Atletes and coaches of the year were honored at the 2009 award ceremony in Canby. Female athlete of the year is Kaylin Bing from Roseburg Swim Team. Male athlete of the year is Neil O'Halloran from Tualatin Hills Swim Team, Collefiate Athlete of the year: Brett Nagle, Mount Hood Aquatics.  
The Age Group Coach of the year: Shane Bennett from Bend Swim CLub, Senior Coach of the year: Linck Bergen, Tualatin Hills Swim Club.  Coaches Excellence award: Shelly Rawding, Hood River Swim Team.

Oregon Swimming Award recepients:   James J Richardson Award: Scott Kerr and Mark Maxwell, coaches/camp coordinators. USA Swimming Outstanding Service Award: Shelly Rawding, All Star Head Coach. Dick Parker Officials Award: Joanne Wisniewski. Jon Arlin  Adaptive Swimming Award: Mark Rieniets, official.

THSC's Neil O'Halloran Competes at World Cup

Tualatin Hill's Neil O'Halloran competed at two World Cup meets as part of the USA Swimming National Junior team. In Sweden, Neil placed 40th in the 200 free with a time of 1:50.56, 27th in the 100 fly (53.00), 35th in the 50 fly (24.38) and 19th in the 200 fly swimming 2:00.97. At the Berlin stop, he placed 63rd in the 200 free with a 1:51.44, 28th in the 100 fly with a 52.90, 34th in the 50 fly with a 24.59 and 22nd in the 200 fly with a 2:00.02.

As part of the his experience, Neil was coached by Michael Phelps at a couple of practices. Michael made the trip specifically to mentor the National Junior Team. They were also given a tour of the city with a stop at the former Berlin Wall.

Starter needed for Special OIympics meet in Newberg

Chahalem Swim Team is hosting a Special Olympics Meet in Newberg on Saturday November 21 and are in need of a starter. Please contact Christina Jentgens at 503-554-8050 or jentgens@verizon.net if you are able to help.  The warn ups start at 8:30AM and meet will be over close to 3PM.

IMX Games Qualifications Have Changed

USA Swimming has changed the entry qualification requirements for the IMX Xtreme Championships to be held at Mt. Hood Community College on December 11-13, 2009.  Swimmers do not need to have an IMX point total any longer, and this meet is now open to anyone in the 11-14 age bracket. The meet information can be found here.

Volunteers for 2009 Award Ceremony

Canby Mile Has Openings for More Swimmers
