Oregon Swimming - Travel Fund
In the mid-1990s, the OSI leadership embarked on a bold initiative creating a Travel Endowment to assist with the LSC's financial operation into the future. To fund the Travel Endowment, there is a $3/athlete surcharge at every sanctioned competition in the Oregon Swimming LSC. In addition, a portion of the splash and relay fees is levied.
These revenues are used to cover the cost of various travel expenses of OSI athletes: All-Star competition, Western Age Group Zone competition, National events, Senior Training Trip, Convention, and Olympic Trials. In addition, a variety of Officials events are partially covered.
Any left over funds are deposited into the Travel Endowment which are invested in a conservative manner according to an Investment Policy and overseen by an Investment Committee.
After 20 years, the Travel Endowment has reached a level that no longer requires annual contributions. Instead, the annual interest is returned to OSI to fund various athlete and official expenses.
